They don't know what I did. And I intend to keep it that way.
When Milla is invited to a reunion in the French Alps resort that saw the peak of her snowboarding career, she drops everything to go. While she would rather forget the events of that winter, the invitation comes from Curtis, the one person she can't seem to let go.
The five friends haven't seen each other for ten years, since the disappearance of the beautiful and enigmatic Saskia. But when an icebreaker game turns menacing, they realise they don't know who has really gathered them there and how far they will go to find the truth.
NICKY'S REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
These debut authors are never seizing to amaze me, and @authorallier joins the ranks with gusto! I absolutely flew through this one. Set in the snowy mountains in the French Alps, when five friends are reunited after ten years, but things take a sharp decline when they find out that someone outside of the group plotted this scenario with ill intentions. It seamlessly interspersed the present and enlightened the past timelines with the ease which some of its counterparts can often lack. A locked room murder mystery with a claustrophobic and a nostalgic essence that spread amongst the characters in a way which was subtle but sure. The pace was exceptional, carefully crafting and executing the balance between a slow burn and a page turner. If you are on the prowl for a suspenseful yet easy to consume thriller, look no further fam.
TAY'S REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The thing about ‘Shiver’ is that it is so completely unique; the plot, the setting, the character dynamics, a combination that piqued my curiosity from the get-go. Reynolds has a gift for descriptive language, transporting me from my couch in Australian summer to the French Alps in the dead of winter. I felt the generosity with snowboarding references only gave it more credibility, especially knowing Reynolds has a history as a pro snowboarder. The choice to tell it from a female perspective paid off, given I immediately connected to Milla; a rarity in this genre because I’m not as flippant with my trust. It was cleverly sequenced and had all the best elements of a “locked-room” thriller. Though it only marginally detracted from the cunning ending, I predicted it sooner than I would have liked to. The good news? You can exchange your workout for an evening of reading, because your heart rate is bound to crack 150+.
